Meet Janiya
When I first met Janiyah, she genuinely believed she was too dumb to accomplish anything. She didn’t think she had gifts, she didn’t think she had value, and she didn’t think she had a future. College wasn’t even a dream because she didn’t think she was capable of finishing high school. She had been labeled for years and carried those labels like they were facts. What she didn’t know was that she had been using her gifts every day without realizing it. The moment she discovered those gifts, the moment she realized she wasn’t stupid, the moment she realized she wasn’t slow, everything began to shift. She started seeing herself clearly. She started believing she could go to college. She started believing she could be a lawyer. She even started believing she could be a judge. And the day she earned her first 4.0, she realized she didn’t have limits on where she could go or what she could do. Confidence isn’t something that bakes like a cake. It’s a tower. You build it, and you keep building it. Instant buildings fall down instantly. Real confidence is built through real shifts, and she did the work.
She was a teen when we started, but the principles behind her shift apply to adults too. I never treat adults like teens. I tailor everything. But the foundation of confidence, clarity, identity, and direction is human. Her story is one example of what happens when someone finally stops believing lies about themselves and starts doing the work. She thought she was too dumb for college. Now she’s been on the Dean’s List three times and is academically ahead of her peers. If you see yourself in any part of her story, I want you to know you are not stuck. If she can shift like that, you can too.
Her entire journey has been documented through MindShift Power Podcast, where you can hear her shifts in real time. If you want to experience her growth for yourself, the episodes below walk you through every stage of her transformation.
